Surprises
Yesterday was my day to tackle my long over-due weed-eating failure. I gathered up my equipment, checked it for string and gas and reluctantly headed out to the yard. It didn’t take long before I was sweaty, clogged and tired. There may have been a little mumbling with a scattering of inappropriate words thrown in as well. I dislike trimming my yard which makes it worse because I tend to put it off until it is a major undertaking.
For the third time, the trimmer ran out of string. So with a sigh I turned to trudge back to the garage. As I looked up, over by the sunroom, under a dog wood tree is a perfect picture of two dogs sitting very straight, watching me with such serious faces, I had to laugh. The laughter brought a huge smile to Kiah’s face and she instantly bounded over to me, tail wagging and ears flopping. Emi followed at a more dignified pace over to where I had sat down on the grass, waiting.
The wriggly, kissy, huggable, lovefest that followed just made my day. The fact that they both sat there, at a safe distance, and watched until I took a break was yet another thing that makes me think they both may be smarter than me.
